Stacey Park Milbern works as a disability justice activist and advocates for the fair treatment of disabled people. At the age of 16, Milbern started serving Disability rights. She founded the Disable Youth People’s Collective and North Carolina Youth Leadership Forum.
She has played a major role in Teaching the disability History curriculum in all schools and helping in passing and writing the law related to education.
She speaks, writes, and organizes the people from the San Francisco Bay Area to help disabled people and justice for them. She was appointed to the North Carolina Commission for the Blind from 2006 to 2008 by the Governor of North Carolina and the Statewide Independent Living Council from 2004 to 2010.
Milbern had been appointed by President Obama in 2014 to the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. She raised her voice against the proposal to replace and repeal the Affordable Care Act which involved significant cuts to funding for those with disabilities.
